My Story

Hi! When the coronavirus started, I left school and thought we would be back in 2 weeks. It has been really hard to be away from my friends and school all these months. But I’ve also been worried about my teachers and their mental health.

In April, I started to think about what I could do to help my teachers know that I was thinking of them and appreciated everything they are doing.

In the spring of 2020, I was awarded a Peace First grant to create jars of appreciation for teachers and school staff. I kicked off my project at my middle school. I was able to send jars full of positive messages to over thirty teachers and school staff.

Coronavirus has forced teachers, school staff and students out of their classrooms. This has put a lot of stress on them as they’ve had to learn to teach in different ways and they are no longer face to face with their students.

Teachers and school staff are trying their best to check in with their students to make sure they are learning and well.

All of this while also taking care of themselves and their families. I’m on a mission is to make sure that our teachers and school staff know that they are loved and that we are always thinking about them and their well being.

This past summer I was also awarded the power of youth grant to help scale the project and ensure that teachers and school staff across the country get the love and appreciation they deserve.

Please buy a jar and show a teacher or school staff member that you appreciate them.
